Odisha Metro: Status on when work startsĪccording to media reports, Usha Devi, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Odisha, mentioned that work on metro rail project in the Bhubaneswar capital region will start by end of 2023. Further, the metro will be expanded to Khurda and Puri.
The proposed stations in this route include the airport, the Bhubaneswar railway station, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Nandan Kanan, Patia and Trishulia. The first phase of the metro route will connect Trisulia near Cuttack to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is the consultant for this project.
According to media reports, Patnaik said the project would be entirely funded by the state government. To be divided into phases, the metro project in Odisha will be based on elevated corridors. On the occasion of Utkala Dibasa, the statehood day of Odisha, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on April 1, 2023, announced a Metro project that will cover a 100-km route from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to Khurda and Puri.
